Showbiz stuff newswrapped with Vivian Summers…

Irish cow

The Mighty Mushroom Co took to the streets of Ireland this week with their ‘Fart Free’ cow, just in time for National BBQ Week – asking the nation to give meat a miss on the grill this summer.

The large 7 foot model of a ‘fart-free’ cow has been unveiled outside at St Stephens Green Park in Dublin, by The Mighty Mushroom Co. to mark the arrival of their new plant-based products in EUROSPAR stores across Ireland.

According to recent data, producing and cooking the crops and livestock used in a typical barbecue for four people produces 23.2kg of CO2

  • The beef patty accounts for much of the emissions, as cattle produce huge volumes of methane from belching and flatulence during their lives, while cooking them produces CO2
  • To make plant-based meals more exciting, The Mighty Mushroom Co has launched its first range of meat-free Mince, Burgers and Cumberland Style Sausages into EUROSPAR Ireland, that contain up to 85% mushrooms (from RRP €3.50)

Soap Saviour

OK! magazine reported how ‘Tamzin Outhwaite, most known for playing the character of Mel Owen on EastEnders has saved three children at a pool party on the 5th July after the kids began to struggle in the water.’

A witness to the unfolding events told The Sun, “She leapt into the water without hesitation. It was very dramatic. Without a second’s doubt she entered the pool and plucked the youngest child to safety, before grabbing the other two. She reacted so fast that nobody else had even gone into the water by the time they were all safe.”

Handy should there ever be a UK version of Baywatch launched.

Gordon’s Wedding Nightmare

Entertainment Daily! reported how ‘a couple have accused Gordon Ramsay of ‘ruining’ their wedding day by ‘gatecrashing’ their beach nuptials.’ The news outlet adds, ‘The celebrity chef was filming his new show the same day newlyweds Charlie and Laura Willis got married. Charlie, 35, and 29-year-old Laura had forked out £1300 for an intimate ceremony on Cornwall beauty spot Lusty Glaze.’

Things got worse as ED noted, ‘They claim that not only did Gordon ruin their pictures, but their £50-a-head meal was “cheap and nasty,” because he was using the kitchen.’ The outcome of this beach nightmare, in a statement the production company note “[we have] reimbursed the cost of venue hire to the couple as a goodwill gesture”.
