BBC Two to discover Britain’s Top Takeaways

Sara Cox will present a new eight-part series in which some of the nation’s best-loved independent takeaways compete in a fast-food showdown.

Each standalone episode will follow five takeaways as they compete against one another in a specially built kitchen set in a former foundry in the heart of Manchester.

The takeaway teams will produce an array of mouth-watering dishes which will then be sent out on request to local households, who have the unenviable task of choosing whose service and culinary ability is top of the pile.

The competing takeaways will each have a delicious curated menu featuring a classic dish, chef’s special, vegetarian option and sides.

As in the real world, they have no idea as to when or what their customers will order so there is potential for things to get frenetic.

As service draws to a close the takeaway teams must wait whilst the scores are totted up to decide who has impressed the most.

Britain’s Top Takeaways will air on BBC Two at a date yet to be announced.
