Holby City, like other BBC continuing drama series, took a lengthy hiatus from filming this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The series went out of production on March 18th and the BBC decided to rest the show between 14th April and 2nd June to prolong its supply of pre-lockdown episodes, which finally ran out in mid-August.
The Beeb announced a resumption of filming in late July, noting that the show would return with forty-minute editions instead of the usual hour and that changes had been made to its Elstree filming site to reduce the risk of coronavirus spread.
