Grace Gibson Productions in Australia have released another batch of classic radio serials from their archives for your listening pleasure.

We head back to the 1960s for The Vulnerable Sex, a radio serial which follows the trials and tribulations of Harriet Lee.

This is a woman who married her first love at a very young age and who would live to regret that decision. As a deserted wife she’d be left battling to raise two children and to crawl up the greasy career ladder. Harriet has finally won her many battles and now has a successful career as an executive in an advertising agency, but once again her life will be thrown into chaos as she finds herself struggling to hold onto those she loves and trying to balance her dual roles as a mother and a career woman.

In volume 8 of Night Beat newspaper columnist Randy Stone (Harp McGuire) encounters more odd and downright seedy situations as he combs the streets for his latest scoop. Randy deals with a white convertible, displaced persons, and he looks into the portrait of a hoodlum. Meanwhile, volume 2 of The Carter Brown Mystery Theatre presents us with eight more adaptations of the best-selling Carter Brown mystery novels including Call for a Columnist, Felony in Fashion, and Malice for a Multi-Millionaire.

The theatre of the air returns with volume 5 of Starlight Theatre. A further fifteen radio plays penned by leading overseas writers are included in this edition including The Gamp’s Girl, The Pearl Diver and Diary in the Dolomites.

On a more light-hearted note, we have lashings of side-splitting political satire with the latest release of How Green Was My Cactus. In these episodes we hear of Derryn’s cesspit, budget warlocks and Clive Coalface decides to sue.

All of these radio serials and a wealth of others can be purchased on CD or as digital downloads exclusively from the Grace Gibson Productions website.
