Pick of the Plots: Wednesday 18th December

The latest goings on in Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

Roy calls at Richard’s and packs Nina off to college, promising to wait in for the new carer. However, Roy is forced to return home to deal with a leaky freezer. Roy rings Richard and is furious to discover the carer still hasn’t shown. Assuring Roy he’s fine, Richard ends the call but loses his balance and falls.

Later, Richard answers another call from Roy and, keeping quiet about his fall, pretends all’s well. Roy finally returns to Richard’s flat to find him passed out on the floor. As the paramedics try to revive him, Nina arrives in time to hear him pronounced dead. She lays into Roy for leaving Richard on his own.

Meanwhile, Michael phones Grace to invite her and Tianna for Christmas. She refuses but agrees to attend his grand reopening of the Winter Wonderland. Later, Michael is desperate for Grace and Tianna to arrive at the Winter Wonderland, he calls Grace but finds her phone is dead.

Elsewhere, Ryan delivers an envelope for Gary who gives him a repayment holiday and hints he may have further jobs lined up for him. Michelle accepts an anonymous offer for the bistro. Rita continues to feel lonely.

Mercedes seeks Liam out for some fun, knowing that he’s the only one who won’t judge her, but she’s stunned to find James there and to hear that Liam has moved on. A montage shows Liam, Grace, Sylver and James with the gun on the night she was shot.

Meanwhile, Mitchell and Scott get in a taxi and go to the Christmas markets where they enjoy being a proper couple. However, Mitchell instinctively friend-zones Scott when they bump into Azim.

Mitchell promises Scott that when he can get his family together tomorrow, he’s going to tell them the truth about them.

Hollyoaks, Wednesday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

With Jimmi on a FME shift, Al takes on the burden of mixology night alone but his cocktail-making attempts are disastrous. Emma tearfully opens up to Ayesha about Gareth. Ayesha, shocked by the news, cites her own attack and insists there’s never any way of knowing why.

As the mixology night descends into chaos, Jimmi has another tough shift at the police station. Although he expects the usual pre-Christmas raucousness, he’s thrown when he himself comes under suspicion as Major Crime Squad ask to search his car.

Jimmi has nothing to hide and complies but he’s rocked to his core when a large cache of heroin is found in the boot. Jimmi can barely mutter a protest as he’s arrested for intent to supply…
