BBC One releases uplifting Christmas film for 2019

BBC One has launched its Christmas film for 2019, #XmasLife, running throughout the Christmas period in key junctions between programmes.

The fast paced, light hearted and feel good film – a BBC Creative production – includes cameos from regular Beeb personalities Graham Norton and Rochelle Humes and depicts families and friends living their best #XmasLife. Whether it’s staying in their PJs all day or spending quality time with the family, it illustrates that Christmas is a time to kick back, with BBC One at the heart of festive living rooms up and down the UK.

Televisual highlights from the Beeb this festive season include the usual specials of Strictly Come Dancing, Call The Midwife, Mrs Brown’s Boys, Doctor Who and Michael McIntyre’s Big Show alongside the much anticipated return of Gavin and Stacey.

There’ll be more misery Walford style as well when Phil finally discovers the truth about Sharon and her unborn child in EastEnders while new to the schedules are a star-studded adaption of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, animation The Snail And The Whale and a brand new dramatization of the Profumo Affair, The Trial of Christine Keeler.

“Christmas is a time when we come together through the shared treats and rituals of the season to take care of ourselves. BBC One has a special role in helping to bring people together and, understanding that poignant festive brand films are a territory that feels well-explored, we wanted to demonstrate this in way that was relatable and fun.” – Chris Hooper, Head of Marketing

The film is available online across the BBC’s social media channels and made its television debut last night after Strictly Come Dancing. It is set to a ‘reimagining’ of Gorillaz Feel Good Inc. The corporation has also teamed up with animators and illustrators including Alex Grigg and Teddy Hall to create a selection of joyous idents to carry us all through Christmas with a smile.
