Pick of the Plots: Tuesday February 5th

The latest goings on in River City, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors.

SoapWeek: River City

Caitlin looks to regain control, but has she gone too far? Meanwhile, AJ’s grief takes its toll, Suzie and Bernie have love in their sights, and a scheming Nicole threatens to expose Lydia.

River City, Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One Scotland.


SoapWeek: EastEnders

Mel locks Hunter in the house before calling a business meeting with Sharon and Phil at the club. Having offered to sell her share of the business, Mel refuses Phil’s low offer but she has to rush off when Hunter calls – the police are outside of their house. The police tell Mel about Hunter’s threats to Maddie and Nicola and after they leave Mel is unnerved by her son’s attitude. Mel decides to accept Phil’s offer and tells Hunter they are going to move away.

Meanwhile, Keanu tries to grab a moment with Sharon but she gives him a reality check and scuttles off when Phil calls about a business meeting with Mel. Sharon worries when Phil mentions the possibility of returning to Spain, so suggests lunch in The Vic. Later, Mel arrives with a change of heart about their offer and Sharon is relieved when Phil agrees not to go to Spain. Later, Keanu corners Sharon in the ladies and has his say.

Elsewhere, the Carters take a phone call from Tamwar with some good news; Stacey realises she has been giving Martin a hard time but her peace-offering of lunch goes downhill when Martin reacts to Ruby spending the night with Jay; Jean finishes with Ian and throws a drink over him when he is typically insensitive; and Mo encourages Kat not to give up on learning the knowledge.

EastEnders, Tuesday at 7.30pm on BBC One.


SoapWeek: Emmerdale

As Liv and Jacob spend time together, Liv’s heartened by Jacob’s acceptance of her asexuality and both are happy about their growing relationship.

Meanwhile, conniving Maya ‘let’s slip’ to Robert and Aaron that Jacob is round at Mill. Aaron bursts into Mill Cottage to find Liv and Jacob cuddled up and throws Jacob out to Liv’s horror. 

Elsewhere, Jai suspects Manpreet isn’t all she seems when her credit card is refused.

Emmerdale, Tuesday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.


SoapWeek: Hollyoaks

Mandy and Darren clash, each wanting what they think is best for the baby. Later, Mandy drops a bombshell on Darren – ‘their’ baby might not even be his as she was also trying for a baby with Luke.

Meanwhile, Nancy has organised a disability awareness day at The Bean, and Oscar is performing in the choir. Juliet teases Brooke and tells her that her autism is a curse. Mandy finds Brooke crying outside, and makes her feel better, saying that Brooke is wonderful exactly how she is. They talk about what it’s like to have autism and the baby’s diagnosis.

Before the show starts, Oscar is struck with stage fright.

At a Women in Business networking lunch Mrs Tembe meets smart young Practice Manager Becky Clarke. Becky admits to Mrs Tembe that she is looking for a job at the moment and introduces to her formidable mentor, head of the CCG Catrin Ballard.

Mrs Tembe has to step out of the event for a phone interview for the job in Newcastle she’s applied for – she impresses and is offered the job to start ASAP. Following Catrin’s speech to the group, Mrs Tembe is delighted when Becky asks about taking over from her at the Mill. However, Catrin feels Becky can do better than the Mill and isn’t afraid to tell Mrs Tembe to her face… 

Elsewhere, Emma is wary when Zara sets out ground rules for a shopping trip; and dark secrets are revealed when Sid agrees to do the medicals for an investment bank.
