Meanwhile, Billy calls Les to convince him to give him another chance but with no luck, he instead takes advice from Tina and heads out to find another job. He’s unsuccessful because news of his sacking has spread. Back in the Square, Tina consoles Billy and encourages him to tell Honey the truth about his job. Honey witnesses the exchange and as Billy goes to tell her he lied, his world is turned upside down as the truth that he slept with Tina comes out …

Doctors Pick of the Plots logo

Emma comes round woozily. Emma fires questions to Ayesha about how she was acting and Ayesha gives a dispassionate list of Emma’s drug fuelled behaviour. Emma says that it must have brought back some unpleasant memories, but that she’s hardly like Bren because she didn’t choose to be like that. Ayesha decides it’s probably time to leave, but Emma apologises.

Both of them struggle to cope: Emma sobs while Ayesha calls Karen for support. Emma can’t understand why anyone would want to feel like this. Ayesha explains that for some people it’s an escape from their own reality, which is worse. Ayesha opens up about the night Bren died and allows Emma to comfort her.

Meanwhile, Heston is at the hospital with the OD victim Louise whose condition takes a turn for the worse.

Doctors, Tuesday at 1.45pm on BBC One.
