It’s the morning of the funeral and a grief-stricken Annie tries to focus on saying goodbye to her loved one. The residents of Shieldinch gather together as the funeral cars arrive with emotions running high all round. After discovering a wake hasn’t been organised, Maggie steps in to save the day, knowing the community will want to say their goodbyes.
AJ tells Ellie he has a spare ticket for his Indian trip but mixed messages result in him asking Pete to join him on his travels. Caitlin scuppers Pete’s plans to run away from his troubles which puts Ellie back in the frame to go away with AJ afterall. However, an unexpected curveball is about to scupper AJ and Ellie’s plans once and for all.
Elsewhere, Stevie and Amber warm to working together with a shared vision for their new restaurant venture – The Two Jailbirds.

A wary Kush takes a huge step forward with Denise and asks her to move in with him. An argument ensues when she shuts down the idea. Kush’s health takes a turn when he suffers a cardiac arrest.
Abi realises Lauren has been drinking and calls Max to keep an eye on her; but keeps the drinking a secret. However he is soon called away by Sharon with news from the hospital – has Jane pulled through?
Elsewhere, Martin appears in court; Bernadette visits the hospital to see her baby while Joyce pops in to see Johnny.

Misbah reveals that Daniel has internal bleeding and social services are involved as his injuries may have been caused by shaking. Later, Courtney tells Leela that she witnessed Zack shouting at Daniel, and Louis overhears. As Louis loses his rag, Daniel’s paternity becomes known to Simone.
Concerned about her behaviour, Prince pushes Lily away, leaving her feeling rejected. She glams herself up and heads to the Duke Street Social. Meanwhile, Brody’s unimpressed by Lisa’s surrogacy decision and vows to bed the next girl who enters; that ends up being a worse for wear Lily.

Dressed for Bren’s funeral, Ayesha swigs a large vodka. Al comes in dressed smartly and tells her that he has taken the day off so he can accompany her. Ayesha thanks him but declines – she needs to do this on her own.
At the crem, Valerie joins Ayesha, but she still insists on being on her own. That afternoon, Valerie arrives at Al’s house with wine for Ayesha, but when Ayesha arrives she is already very drunk. She tells them how it went, Debs read a poem which made her bawl and they all went to the pub afterwards.
