Pick of the Plots: Monday July 31st

SoapWorld takes a look at the latest goings on in Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors this Monday.

Robert tells Michelle that an alibi rules Rich out of being the vandal. Chesney accepts a £5k offer from Robert to Adam’s annoyance. Robert worries about the payment and turns down help from Michelle, before hitting a casino. Later, Robert’s horrified to see that Michelle’s car has been vandalised. He persuades Luke to do a speedy repair, but feels guilty when Michelle thinks the attacks are over.

When Leanne explains it’s not working out at the Rovers, Eva insists she can move in with she and Aidan. But Steve also steps in with an offer of accommodation. Later, Steve and Leanne practise the controlled crying technique with Oliver in the hope he’ll learn to sleep through.

Elsewhere, Todd and Billy worry about Summer; Aidan’s jealous when Maria goes on a date; Bethany feels terrible when Craig faces the loss of his job; Dev recaptures Erica’s interest with the news he’s had an offer on the gym.

Coronation Street, Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV, UTV and STV.

Mick is left reeling while Shirley struggles to mask her displeasure when Whitney returns (with new hair). On Johnny’s insistence, Whitney agrees to move back into the pub and soon gets her job back too. Whitney stands her ground against Shirley. Later, Whitney reveals some surprising news – she’s engaged.  

Steven panics when Lauren forces him to go to the hospital leaving a smug Abi with Louie. Steven tries to buy himself some time and as they wait to see someone, he desperately calls Abi for help.

Elsewhere, Bernadette is put out when she realises her baby can’t have nice stuff; Max and Carmel go for a drink.

EastEnders, Monday at 8pm on BBC One. Repeated at 10pm on UKTV channel ‘W’.

Lawrence resigns himself to telling Chrissie the truth about Tim’s identity. However, Lachlan has other ideas and along with Gerry, intercepts Tim ‘Simon’ en route to see Chrissie, bundling him into a car boot. Later Lachlan tells Lawrence he doesn’t have to worry anymore but Lawrence is unnerved when he hears Tim’s phone ringing in Lachlan’s pocket.

Rebecca encourages Robert when he tells her he plans to win Aaron back, but Adam warns him he’s wasting his time. When Aaron returns to the village, an emotional Robert begs him to give him another chance but Aaron says it’s too late.

Elsewhere, Rhona struggles with Paddy being overprotective; Emma interrupts Laurel digging for info on her with Finn.

Emmerdale, Monday at 7pm on ITV, STV and UTV.

Yasmine is gutted when Prince chooses Lily over her and pours a box of Alfie’s crickets down Lily’s top. Lily is mortified when she rips off her jumper and her scar is exposed to everyone. Back at home, she locks herself in the bathroom and cuts herself for the first time.

Harry finds out that Ste is refusing to take his HIV medication in prison. He turns up to look after Leah and Lucas but Ryan and Tegan can smell alcohol on him. Tegan offers to babysit instead. Lucas has a revelation about the night Amy was killed.

Elsewhere, Misbah pleads with Kim to break up with her daughter; Scott gets himself a job working with Damon.

Hollyoaks, Monday at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and a ‘first look’ at 7pm on E4.

Doctors is off-air for its annual summer break.
